Sclerotherapy
Unsightly vessels detract from the natural beauty of the skin. Whether they are on the legs are on the face, they are a mark that most of us would like not to have. CDS is particularly suited to treating both of these problems.
For the legs we offer both laser and Sclerotherapy, but Sclerotherapy is the best or “Gold Standard” for the larger blue veins seen on most people. However, treatment is not a simple matter of injecting a few vessels. Enlarged vessels on the legs means that there increased pressure in the visible vessels coming to the surface from the higher pressure veins on the inside of the leg, Sclerotherapy must close all of the vessels that allow that high pressure to escape to the surface. That means that a good exam must be done and an instrument called a Doppler must be used to listen for sounds of failure of the system of valves that control the pressure.
Once these vessels are determined, they are injected with a solution that closes off the vessels. After injection, many veins disappear immediately and others go away with time.
Side effects may occasionally occur such as bruising and collection of a small amount of blood in a partially closed vessel. These are matters that are dealt with easily. All side effects are discussed with you at your consultation.
For the face both Lasers and Intense Pulse Light (IPL) have their place in treatment. At CDS, we offer both devices to insure that we can provide the best treatment for your particular problem with visible vessels. Also, we are able to treat the generalized facial redness that is such a vexing problem to so many people.
In our attempt to provide the best of treatments we may well use a polarized light device that helps us to spot smaller vessels for a more complete result.
Generally, there is no down time to treatment of facial vessels.
In each case, a consultation is needed to determine the best treatment for you. At that time cost will be outlined along with a rough idea of the number of treatments needed. Treatment may or may not begin at the time of consultation.
